Building a better Mungbean: Breeding for reproductive resilience in a changing climate

نویسندگان

چکیده

Mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek var. radiata) is a significant food and cash crop grown in tropical subtropical regions. production consumer demand have increased substantially over the last two decades, owing to its agronomic, nutritional economic benefits. Despite breeding efforts expansion of mungbean various agro-climatic regions, further hindered by low yield variability, which partly attributed impacts abiotic stress. Abiotic stress on physiology, morphology reproductive ability influences yield. Exposure stresses at stage considered most critical for production. In this review, we evaluate how growth productivity when occurring during traits that may confer adaptation. We present limitations current research including limited number genotypes, lack field experiments detailed experimental information. highlight opportunities exploit new tools technologies, such as high-throughput phenotyping platforms, gene editing, genomic selection, accelerate develop more resilient cultivars today tomorrow.

Rethinking Social Contracts: Building Resilience in a Changing Climate

Social contracts play an important role in defining the reciprocal rights, obligations, and responsibilities between states and citizens. Climate change is creating new challenges for both states and citizens, inevitably forcing a rethinking of existing and evolving social contracts. In particular, the social arrangements that enhance the well-being and security of both present and future gener...

Building a Comprehensive Conceptual Framework for Power Systems Resilience Metrics

Recently, the frequency and severity of natural and man-made disasters (extreme events), which have a high-impact low-frequency (HILF) property, are increased. These disasters can lead to extensive outages, damages, and costs in electric power systems. A power system must be built with “resilience” against disasters, which means its ability to withstand disasters efficiently while ensuring the ...

Building Resilience against Climate Effects—A Novel Framework to Facilitate Climate Readiness in Public Health Agencies

Climate change is anticipated to have several adverse health impacts. Managing these risks to public health requires an iterative approach. As with many risk management strategies related to climate change, using modeling to project impacts, engaging a wide range of stakeholders, and regularly updating models and risk management plans with new information-hallmarks of adaptive management-are co...

Building evolutionary resilience for conserving biodiversity under climate change

Evolution occurs rapidly and is an ongoing process in our environments. Evolutionary principles need to be built into conservation efforts, particularly given the stressful conditions organisms are increasingly likely to experience because of climate change and ongoing habitat fragmentation. The concept of evolutionary resilience is a way of emphasizing evolutionary processes in conservation an...
